Reflection
The life of a man is not sustainable by the satisfaction of physical wants only. It ought to balance. This live is sustained both by physical and spiritual wants. The devil wanted to play a trick on Christ by highlighting his physical need at a time when such need was glaring, since he could easily convince a person at such a time. He was logically right with his argument, but the motive was wrong. He was to introduce Christ to a way without telling him of the end’s result. A result that could be the possession of the entire life by cares of the world; a state usable by him (the devil). But Christ spotted it and gave him a victorious reply. He thus highlighted to us the need to get ourselves prepared for the spiritual food that brings the balance – his Holy Spirit. The place of the Spirit in us cannot be compromised and we must prepare for it with all our strength.
