Topic: Secrets to Answered Prayers _(Luke 11:1-5)_

Focus:- Understanding How to Pray Effectively and Get Answer

Speaker: Bro Moses Emmanuel

A] Introduction

1. Secrets:- something that is kept or meant to be kept unknown and unseen by others.

2. Answer:- a thing that is said, written or done as a reaction to a question, statement or situation. Or a solution to a problem or dilemma.

3. Prayers:- is the raising of one’s mind and heart to God or the requesting of good things from God.

When we pray, we do not speak from the heights of our pride and will but from the depth of a humble and contrite heart (Psalm 130:1, CCC 2559)

B] Understanding Prayer

Prayer:- is an act of communication between human beings and a superior being which is God Almighty.

Since prayer is an act of communication, it means that we talk to God and God responds to what we have told him.

This topic is thus telling us about those hidden things we need to know to make us get answer or solution to our problems through prayer.

C] A Model for Effective Prayer?

The Apostles asked our Lord Jesus Christ to teach them how to pray. In our reference scripture, which is Luke 11:1-5, the Lord Jesus Christ gave them a model to follow.

According to Jesus, He told them that when they pray they should say:

Hallowed be thy name
Thy kingdom come
Thy will be done as in heaven so in Earth
Give us day by day our daily bread
And forgive us our sin; for we also forgive everyone that is indebted to us.
And lead us not into temptation but deliver from all evil.”

This thus becomes a good model for effective prayer. Therefore, to get results in prayer, there are qualities that should come with your prayer.

to Your Prayer!

1. It Needs to Be Heartfelt/ Fervent:
Your prayers must be heartfelt. It must be borne out of passion and coming from heart.

2. Pray In Line With God’s Will:
Your prayer must be in line with the will of God. They should be in accordance with the Word of God (James 4:1-6. Matt 26:37-39)

3. Come Through Jesus Christ:
The prayer must carry the access code which is the name of Jesus Christ. There’s power in the name of Jesus Christ!

Jesus in John 14:13-14 told His disciples to make requests in His Name. The Father has given Jesus Christ all things (Phil. 2:9-11)

4. Ask In Righteousness:
You must be free from sin and iniquity. The Scripture said that the fervent prayer of a RIGHTEOUS MAN avails much. Another Scripture says that the prayer of a dinner is an abortion to God (Isaiah 59:1-2, Psalm 66:18, Habakuk1:13, James 5:16)

5. Anointing of the Holy Spirit:
You need to carry anointing and power of the Holy Ghost to destroy some evil yokes and satanic subjugation and liberate God’s people (Acts 19:13-17). Pray and work on yourself to be a carrier of God’s power. Some situation need prayer and fasting!

6. Grow In the Knowledge of God:
You must continue to grow in the knowledge and power of God. This growth is divided into stages:-

Stage 1 – Acceptance stage.
Where you accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Saviour. This is infant stage (John 3:5-6, 1 Cor.3:2, Heb.5:12-13)

Stage 2 – The Realm of Son and Daughter of God.
At this realm, anything you do is directed by the Holy Spirit (Rom.8:14-17, Gal.3:26, Heb.1:2)

Stage 3 – Capacity Building
The third realm is for those who build capacity and are focused in the Lord.

Growing in the knowledge of God thus requires deep passion and commitment to know God, His Words and His will in order to bring glory to Him always

7. Be Persistent:
You must be persistent in your prayers. No giving up! Read Luke18:1-8 (Persistent widow), James 5:16-18 (Elijah), 1 Samuel 1:10-15 (Hannah). These persons taught us one thing – the need to perservere!

Here, apply two principles. 1) PUSH – Pray Until Something Positive Happen. 2) ASK – Asking, Seeking and Knocking (Matt 7:7)

8. Have a Spiritual Covenant with God:
There are prayers that you may be led in spirit to enter a covenant with God. Your community where you worship might also have unique covenant they have with God.

Pray with the consciousness of spiritual covenant with God. Remind God of them. Be willing to keep the terms of this spiritual covenant. Hannah told God that the child He will give her, she’ll dedicate it to God. And she did that.

9. Bring an Offering:
Offering is a channel to open doors and answers to prayer. Read 1 Kings 17:7-16, Mal. 3:8-12 and 2 Cor. 9:7.

Always place offering in God’s house for a generous soul will be made rich and he who waters will also be watered himself.

10. Thank God in Advance:
Round up your prayers always with thanksgiving. Jesus Christ tells us that whatever we ask for in prayer, we should believe that we have received it, and it will be ours – Mark 11:24

1 Thess. 5:17-18 instructs to pray without ceasing, and in everything we should give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for us.

Conclusion:

St. Paul in Ephesians 6 vs 18 instructs us to pray always with all prayers and supplication in the spirit and to watch there unto with all preseverence and supplication for all saints.

May Our Heavenly Father answer your prayers. May He hear you and send you help. May He turn your sorrows to joy. May His Name be gloried through you Testimonies.

This I pray through Christ Our Lord. Amen.
