Theme: Following Jesus all the Way

Text: Mathew 16: 21-28

… v 22. “Then taking Him aside, Peter started to remonstrate with him, “Heavens preserve you, Lord, he said, “this must not happen to you.”

But Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan, you are an obstacle in my path, because the way you think is not God’s way but man’s.”

Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If anyone is to be a follower of mine, let his renounce himself, and take up his cross and follow me”… (Read on to v. 28)

Reflection:

Discipleship means following. Peter did not understand this very well, he wanted to take the lead. Therefore he had to be told, “Get behind me”.

To follow Jesus leads inevitably to the cross. Peter did not like the idea. Am I ready to get behind Jesus and go all the way with Him?

Prayer:

My Lord Jesus Christ, help me. May I stick to your words. May I follow God’s plan for my life. Make me thy true disciple. Amen.

Bible Study:

Ezekiel 22,23; Daniel 7,8
