The Saving Help Of Jesus Christ.

The name ‘Jesus’ means ‘God saves’ while ‘Christ’ means ‘the anointed one’ or the ‘Messiah.’ He is the anointed one who saved us. Indeed, the principal work Jesus did for us is that of salvation – the redemption of man from sin and death.

The scripture said that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). This was the intention of Satan when he deceived our first parent, Adam and Eve, and made them disobey God, which incident led man being driven away from God’s presence.

However, out of love, God saved man by sending His son, Jesus Christ. The scripture said, ‘For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believed should not perish but have everlasting life‘ (John 3:16).

This salvation has worked many things for us. First, is the forgiveness of our sin. In Christ, we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace (Ephesians 1:7).

We are also saved from eternal death. Jesus is the Saviour from death. As echoed during Eucharist celebration, ‘dying He destroyed our death, rising He restored our life.‘ Jesus destroyed the eternal death which is the portion of every fallen soul, which fate befalls anyone who does not believe in Christ and still continued in sin.

2 Corinthians 5:17 says, ‘Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.’ In Christ, we have newness of life; we obtain healing and restoration, and are assured of eternal life. Alleluia.
