Tragedies of Life

On March 19, 2017, a young Nigerian medical doctor jumped off the Lagos Third Mainland Bridge into a Lagoon where he drowned! In the same month, the International Organisation on Migration disclosed that 128 migrants, comprising Nigerians and other West Africans, died while crossing Mediterranean Sea to Europe between March 6 and 26, 2017.  It was also widely reported of a middle aged woman who, in search of spiritual solution, fell in the hands of ritualists who beheaded her and dismembered her body. Alarming! Aren’t they?

The question then comes – To whom shall we go when we are faced with the crisis of life? To whom do you go when you find yourself in difficulty, anxiety and terrifying fear? Who gives you succour in sickness, poverty, wretchedness and hopeless situations? Whom do you lean on?

If your marriage hits the rock, or business fell, or scammers swindle you, and hoodlums ravaged your home killing your loved one, who gives you comfort? Where do you go to when the economy becomes harsh, earnings dwindle and your heart wavering?

To whom do you run to when you are under the attack of evil forces or in need of spiritual healing?  What happens when you are weighed down by sin and other burdens of life? What do you do? Where do you go to?

Wrong Places People Do Go!

Some go to beer parlour and get drunk:

Getting drunk does not solve the problem rather it brings more sorrow to you and, in the end, makes your life more miserable.

Some Following Popular or Major Opinions:

That others are doing it does not mean they are getting the right result.  In Joshua days, more than 600,000 people that came out of Egypt died in the wilderness because they followed the false report given by 10 out of the 12 people (majority) that spied the Canaan (Promised) land. Numbers 13:31-32.

Going To False Prophets or Fetish Doctors:

A lot of unwholesome activities and fake miracles play themselves out in some prayer houses nowadays. The Scripture warns that we should beware of false prophets who will come in sheep clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves (Matthew 7:15). The worst place to seek help is from fetish doctors.

Some Take To Prostitution, Cultism, Arm robbery and other social vices:

Two wrongs can never make a right. You cannot go for prostitution and expect your financial problem to be solved.  The harm this will bring is greater than the meagre benefit it gives.

Some Follow Their Feelings and Consciences:

Your feelings and thoughts are not always right.  Proverb 14:12 says that there is a way that seems right unto a man but the end thereof is a way of death.

Some Do Not Go Anywhere:

These set of people tend to abandon everything to fate holding the wrong notion that ‘what gonna be, will be.’ By doing this, they open themselves more to the manipulations and destructive works of evil one.

To Whom Then Shall We Go To?
