Why Should We Practice Actively The Christian Community Life Today?
7 years ago Evangelical Ministry 0
It is well known that once we are baptized, we become children of God and members of the body of Christ. That is, we become brothers and sisters in the Lord. How is that so?
It is because we are baptized by the one and the same Spirit of God into one and the same body of Christ, which is the church. Thought we come from different families, cultures and traditions, in God, all of us are one. This is how it is in heaven. And that is how God revealed He wants it to be on earth among His people.
That is why it is important that wherever the members of Christ are, they should practice communal life. It doesn’t mean that all of them will come and live in one house. No!
What communal life requires is that they should relate closely with each other, have time when they come together in fellowship, pray, reflect on the word of God, break the bread together and eat.
They should visit each other frequently in their homes and know and attend to the need of one another. Christian community is beautiful and easy to live. It is simply a practical life of love.
Some of the Reasons why we should intensify the practice of Communal Life today in our various locations are as follows:
1 To show in reality that we are true brothers and sisters who are born again by the same Spirit of God as there is no division in God (1 Cor. 12:13).
2. We need each other. We are created that way. There is something someone has that another person needs, and vice versa (1 Cor. 12:21).
3. To have full manifestation of the power of God during our evangelization (John 17:21).
4. For the full release of the gifts of the Holy Spirit in the community as the gifts are for the common good, that is for the good of all (1 Cor. 12:7).
5. To experience fully the presence of Jesus Christ, our Master. He said that wherever two or more are gathered in His name that He is there in their midst (Mt 18:20).
6. To be strongly protected, have greater strength and power (Mt 18:12, Eccl. 4:9-12, Lv 26:8)
7. To show authentic Christian love, and to obey Christ who prayed that we should be one, as the Father and He are one (1 John 3:18, John 17:21)
Are you practicing communal life or are you just staying on your own with no close and continuing relationship with your fellow Christian faithful? Scripture said that two are better than one and that a threefold cord is not easily broken.
May God strengthen us and work fully through us as we practice the genuine Christian communal life. Amen. Shalom.
