It is always easy to be happy and sing beautiful melodies when things are well with you; when all your plans go as you want and your expectations are met.

We pray for such life and hope to experience more of it. However, there are difficult times – times when few or none of our plans work out; times when terrible things happen and we feel devastated.

Can we still praise God and rejoice in Him in those times? Yes beloved; we should still be glad in God. The reasons are not farfetched.

1. The Lord Will Not Forget You (Isaiah 49:15-16). God has said He will never leave nor forsake you. If He will be with you always, surely He will help you. So, be joyful.

2.  The Lord Is Our Refuge and Strength (Ps 46:1-2).

You must be glad because the Lord God is your refuge. He is your hiding place in terrifying times. You are safe under his protection because He is indistructible.

3. God loves You (John 3:16).

God’s love is eternal meaning it lasts forever. Be glad because of this unfailing love. His love has kept you and you were not consumed by your terrors. His love will lift you up!

4. You are victorious through Christ (Romans 8:37).

Always remember you are victorious and the miracle of the cross is with you. Though you may be experiencing pains, difficulties or persecutions now, you will come out victories. This is your birthright in Christ! Rejoice.

5. The Indwelling Presence of the Almighty God (Luke 1:46-48).

Are you aware that the Almighty God lives in you? He dwells in you through His Holy Spirit. To have the Spirit of God take abode in your body should always be a source and cause to rejoice.

6. It is in the will of God that you should rejoice (1 Thess. 5:16-18). God has commanded us to be glad always. So, we have no excuse. If He said it, we should do it! It is his will that you should be joyful in His presence.

It is not your sadness that will make God answer your prayer; it is your joyful attitude. When we express discouragement it is a sign of ingratitude to the Lord for all the past blessings and favours He has given us. Don’t be discourage by what you are praying for now, rather rejoice!
