Study Verse: Mark14:32-42

Reflection
Now Jesus introduces us to the next level in our drive to being completely subjected to his Lordship. All the while he has taught that we need to accept him as our Lord and now he brings to us the second dimension – mastering the flesh. He lays both on the table. First is to subject our will to his as our Lord; just as he subjected his will to the Father. Second is the weakness brought by the flesh which requires mastering. This is in the sense of subjecting the object to the principles of the subject; not the other way round. We need to make serious effort to master the flesh – which is a conglomeration of components of earthly reality, with which spirits like us can live in the earth reality. By this our “subjecthood” unto Christ is guaranteed.

Prayer
Help me oh Lord to master the flesh.
