Focusing: Helping Members Understand the Wealth of Resources We Have When God is With Us.

Introduction:

Every Christian desiring to grow in his or her spiritual life always seeks to maintain a long and lasting relationship with God. He or she communes with God daily through prayers, worship, mediation on God’s words and quiet time.

The relationship becomes more fulfilling when God begins to shower more of His love, blessing, goodness and gifts to such a soul. Such that this believer begins to experience, use and enjoy the power of the living God.

In today’s study we will examine the nature of God’s power, His gifts and blessings, how to put them to full use and what can limit their full utilisation.

What do you understand by Power in God’s presence? (Bible Study verses: Exodus 33:7-17, Psalm 16:11, 27:4, Jeremiah 29:13)

1. Glory and blessings we receive when we come to God’s dwelling place.
2. Manifest goodness of God to those who approach, tarry and walk with Him.

Do I really need God’s presence and His power? Yes. (Bible Study verses: Isaiah 43:1-3, Ephesians 4:11-14, Isaiah 60:1-2, 2 Cor. 3:18)

1. To remain steadfast in the God.
Strength in time of distress.
2. To make significant impact in life.
3. To obtain grace, mercy, eternal life.

What resources are available in God’s presence? (Bible study verse: Acts 1:8, 1 Cor. 12:4-11, Isaiah 11:1-3, Deut.8:18)
1. God’s peace and righteousness.
2. Spiritual gifts – wisdom, healing, miracles, discernments, prophecy, etc
3. Restoration/revelations/vision.
4. Forgiveness/salvation.
5. Power to witness.
6. Grace to live and fear God.
7. Empowerment of physical gifts.

How do I fully utilize these resources – gifts and blessings of God? (Bible Study verse: Proverb 10:22, 22:29, Romans 12:3-8, Acts 10:38; Prov. 27:17)
1. Constant use or practice.
2. Passion/zealous for good works.
3. Creating time for its use/ Being available.
4. Yielding to God completely.
5. Join others with similar gifts.
6. Glorify God with the gifts, not yourself.

What can hinder the full manifestation of God’s gifts and blessings in someone’s life? (Bible Study verses: 1 Peter 5:5-6, 2 Timothy 1:7, Proverb 14:34 )

1. Pride.
2. Lack of Courage, low commitment.
3. Living sinful life.
4. Unhealthy completion, Inconsistency.

Conclusion:

Do you want to grow and remain relevant in this life? Do you want to exploit all that God has in store for you? Then, learn to tarry in His presence. Desire Him more. Spend time with God. And when God starts blessing you, ensure you put to full use all the resources He makes available to you. Use them maximally to enhance other people lives. Do this and experience God’s greater abundance in your life. Shalom.
