Let Your Light Shine.
8 years ago Evangelical Ministry 2
‘You are the Light of the world’, the scripture said, ‘a city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden’ (Matthew 5:14). Last week we dwelt on the various gifts and potentials given to us by God. Here we will be deliberating on how to manifest those potentials, and a very helpful scripture is St. Paul’s letter to Timothy:
‘Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity (1 Timothy 4:12).
1. In Words:
We should be very careful of the words we speak. Our words should help build and edify others rather than destroy.
2. In Conduct:
Our behaviour as christian should be a model for others to follow. Every believer ought to show excellent manner of life with a high moral conduct.
3. In Love:
Christ has showed us a good example when he washed his disciples feet. By this he tells us to love one another even when it hurts. We should continue to assist others in make a meaningful living.
4. In Spirit:
The life of a believer is a life lived in spirit of Christ. This too should influence our thought pattern.
5. In Faith:
Faith is the substance of the thing hoped for, the evidence of the things yet unseen. (Hebrew 11:1). To attain a great height in life, we must put our faith to work.
6. In Purity:
This calls for righteous living. It entails thinking well of others, praying for those in need, abstaining from sin and being Christ conscious.
May the good Lord help us manifest our light always. Amen.
