Topic: Following the Leadings of the Holy Spirit

Text: Luke 4: 1-4

Filled with the Holy Spirit, Jesus left for Jordan, and was led by the Spirit through the wilderness, being tempted there by the devil for forty days.

During that time, He ate nothing, and at the end he was hungry. Then the devil said to Him, “If you are the Son of God tell this stone to turn into a loaf”. But Jesus replied, “Scripture says: Man does not live on bread alone but by every word of God.”

Reflection:

Once the Spirit has filled Jesus, he led Him to be tempted and tested, but the devil cannot overcome Him.

Jesus overcame him because He was fully acquainted with the knowledge of God and His will. He was ruled by the Spirit, not the flesh.

Am I ready from now on to be led by the Spirit of Jesus?

Prayer:

Holy Spirit, lead me always. Help me to understand the Scripture and the will of God. May I not give in to instant gratification, but commit to doing what pleases God. Amen.
