How Do I Know If Am Truly Evangelizing?

Every keen Christian should know the task which Jesus Christ our Saviour commanded us to be doing. Christ told his disciples to go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone (Mark 16:15 NLT). “You live it, you preach it!” that’s what Christ meant.
To discover if someone is truly evangelizing, one need to understand first what evangelization means, and the reason it is been carried out. To evangelise means to bring the Good News of Jesus Christ into every human situation and to seek to convert individuals and the society by the power of the Gospel.
In his letter to the churches on Evangelization in the Modern World, Pope John Paul II clearly stated three objectives of missionary activity:
1. To proclaim the Gospel to all people;
2. To help bring about the conversion of those who have received the Gospel but live it only nominally. By nominally, we mean living without producing the fruits of the gospel and not responding to the gospel in faith and repentance.
3. To deepen the Gospel in the lives of believers.
Another important thing about evangelization is that it must be directly connected to the Lord Jesus Christ. There is no evangelization if the name, the teaching, the life, the promises, the Kingdom and the mystery of Jesus Christ are not proclaimed.
When the Good News of Jesus Christ is proclaimed, all who accepted it will begin to have conversion which is the change of their lives from every evil to good. This conversion is brought about by the Holy Spirit.
The results of evangelization are changed lives and a changed world where holiness, justice, spirituality and peace reign. It is shown in the love of self and the unconditional love for others.
