It was an epoch making event on Saturday 24th August, 2019 as Catholic Charismatic Renewal in Awka diocese celebrated her 40 years anniversary of being in existence in the diocese.

Speaking during the celebration, the chairman of the event, Dr. Sir Hygers Ifeanyichukwu Igwebuike commended the charismatic members for the achievements they have made in the past years including the building and running of Austica Memorial Secondary school located at Nanka. The chairman said he has given the Renewal some plots of land for construction of another school for girls since Austica is for boys.

Continuing in his speech, Hygers urged renewal members to focus more on evangelization and winning of souls. He reminded the new leaders of Charismatic Renewal on the need to build the Spirit life of their existing members, attend to the welfare of their members and chaplain, and to always remember and recognize the efforts of their past leaders.

He also urged renewal members to maintain the ‘Charismatic time’ for which the renewal is known and revered. He was later joined by the immediate past governor of Anambra State, Mr Peter Obi in unveiling and launching of the new book “The Seed of Faith” which contained information on the emergence, growth and future of renewal in the diocese.
