Joshua 22:1-8

“Then Joshua summoned the Reubenites, the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh and said to them, “You have done all that Moses the servant of the Lord commanded, and you have obeyed me in everything I commanded. For a long time now—to this very day—you have not deserted your fellow Israelites but have carried out the mission the Lord your God gave you. Now that the Lord your God has given them rest as he promised, return to your homes in the land that Moses the servant of the Lord gave you on the other side of the Jordan”

If you have studied the Torah very well, you would understand that the Reubenites, Gadites and half tribe of Manasseh already had their possession at the Eastern side of Jordan, a land very fertile for farming and livestock rearing. These tribes because of their profession, requested the Eastern Jordan from Moses, at the Lord’s command, Moses granted them their request. Now, they had no share in Canaan land any longer because they have been settled.

But the very touching part of this event was that even when they got their share of inheritance, and greatly established, doing exploits and flourishing in every ways, they never abandoned the rest of the Israelites.

Wooow… they crossed the Jordan together with the rest of the Israelites, and fought the battles with them till they got their own possession. Even in their great wealth, they stood by Israelites until their enemies were all defeated. This was when Joshua now called their attention for them to return to their own land, since every one has been established.

Now, let’s talk about believers of today, who have been already established while their fellow brethren are languishing in misery and pain, difficulties and hardship, hunger and suffering, yet it perturb them not, they don’t care about the well being of their fellow brother in the Lord.

Christians of today seem to be the most wicked creatures, though it doesn’t apply to all, but the ratio is very minimal. We have our fellow brethren around us, who can’t even feed twice a day, who have no direction in life, who is already giving up in life, whose only companion is tears, what have you done as established brethren to stand that brother or sister??

We have many selfish brothers and sisters in the fellowship today, because that bond called LOVE is in the past. Many brethren in the fellowship are classified in the category of I, Me and Myself Association.

The greatest joy is to see brethren making progress and being there for each other in time of difficulties. This is the foundation of Christianity.

Don’t be a selfish Christian!!!
