Bread of Life Voice

Often when we hear statement like “Resist the Devil,” we might think of engaging in warfare prayers or traveling to our village to pull down ancient evil foundation.

While these are good, they are not the first thing God is even pointing at.

Resisting the devil means weeding out from our lives thoughts, desires and actions that are in opposition to God.

Many times we are preoccupied with self centered search for pleasure. We lust, envy, quarrel, crave, fight, war and even kill just to obtain things that will satisfy our human pleasure, and make us ‘better’ than others.

All these desires are evil and does not bring glory to the Lord. Anyone who practices these things is becoming a friend of the world and of Satan. And his end is eternal death!

To overcome this, Saint James gave a 5-step guide in Jam 4:7-10:

1. Submit to God.
2. Resist the devil (and he will flee from you).
3. Draw near to God (and He will draw near to you).
4. Purify your heart (Lament and mourn and weep. See from where you have fallen)
5. Humble yourself before the Lord (He will be the one to lift you)
