1PETER 1:6-7— There is cause for joy, then, even though you may, for a time, have to suffer many trials. Thus will your faith be tested, like Gold in a furnace. Gold, however, passes away, but faith worth so much more, will bring you in the end, praise, glory and honour when Jesus Christ appears.

How do you feel when you are burnt by a candle or when you are near a burning firewood? How do u feel when you mistakenly touch a hot pot, or when hot oil splashes on you by mistake?

Have you ever placed your hands over a fire/near a fire, or rubbed a cream or pomade made with sulphur on your eyes? What is the pain like? Hot right? Then we quickly rush to quickly relief the pains using water, palm oil or salt. Often, there is an injury caused by the hotness, the pain can linger but doesn’t last forever, then we have to treat and manage it, sometimes it leaves a scar.

Now, imagine the hotness of fire itself! Yes! That is how hot our faith will be tested in the face of trials, the hotness of fire. The trials we face will bring pains and scars, but this scar is only a memory of the story that happens and how we conquered, which eventually becomes our testimony, ‘No scar, No story’.

The Bible says even in that pain, even in the hotness of the trial, rejoice! Imagine one hurting and laughing at the same time. Difficult but possible! Because with Christ, all things are possible. When we feel that pain, Let the word of God be that oil, the water and the salt we run to for relief, let the word be our consolation in times of weariness, and our source of relief.

How can this relief come? through his words, the word of God, because that pain won’t last forever. Gold passes away, gold perishes, the trial of your faith is worth more than gold, your faith can stand and pass the test of fire, only if you are soaked in the word of God. ‘Faith cometh by hearing the word of God’

MALACHI 3:3- He will take his seat as a refiner and purifier. He will purify the sons of Levi and refine them as gold and silver, so the Lord will have priests who will present the offering with uprightness.

The amount of fire gold passes through before it reaches the taste of the refiner is excess.
God is the fire that purifies us, he uses trials to test our faith in him, that we may be upright, without blemish, and steadfast in him. God promises that when this test of faith is passed, it will bring us praise, glory, honour and most importantly the salvation of our souls.

A pregnant woman forgets the pain of labour at the sight of her child and rejoices. So it is when we triumph over these trials. We begin to testify having overcomed.
