Text: 2 Cor 5:17-21

Before Christ came, man was not in harmony with God. Hence, Christ came to reconcile man to God. He became the way through which every lost soul can come back to God. To perpetuate what he has done, he gave us – whom he has reconciled to God, the ministry of reconciling men to God.

As evangelizers in the evangelical ministry, you are at the front line of carrying out this responsibility of reconciling men to God. This is no minor task.

Unfortunately, most of us are remise in the discharge of this responsibility because we do not understand the gravity of this task. The mimistry of reconciliation is very much on us, as evangelizers, because we are on the front line of the ministry of reconciliation.

It is important to understand that the moment of wining a soul is a moment of fierce battle. The devil will not stand by while a soul is snatched out of his grasp. He will rather fight more fiercely to ensure that he does not lose any soul.

It therefore follows that an evangelizer is at the heart of the battle for souls and therefore more vulnerable to wrath of the enemy; the devil.

How deliberater are you about your life as an evangelizer.

Mt 24:9-14

The lot of those who carry the gospel is hatred from the world.

In the heat of persecution, on account of the gospel, some lose heart and give in to the pressure of the world.

When we cease to speak up, as an evangelizers, false prophets begin to rise. The reason why so much evil and falsehood prevail in our world today is because the evangelizers are silent.

In face of all these persecutionse, must gird our loins and stand fast, for those who endure to the end will be saved.

As evangelizers, it is not enough to be just holy, we must play our part in the ministry of reconciliation. That is our mission.

Your holiness will count but your mission will count too.

How serious, then, are you with your mission, for you must account for it on the last day.

Dealing With Obstacles

1. Lack of Oil (Acts 14:1-7).

Despite the persecutions the apostles went through, they were not discouraged even in the face of death. Rather it became unto them an opportunity to spread the Gospel. They were not men that fizzled out in the face of tribulation. Such men are men who carry raw oil.

Without the oil of evangelization, you can not succeeed as an evangelizer.

Our first assignment, therefore, is to ask God to fill us with the oil for evangelization. If indeed we must walk the distance with God, then, this oil is a necessity.

2. Unequal Yoking (2 Cor 6:14)

So many people have their mouths shut up because of their association. Who do you associate with? Can their lives encourage your life?

For men who will carry the Word, you must select your association.

3. Lack of the Knowledge of the Word of God (Hos 4:6-7).

As an evangelizer, how much of God’s knowledge do you carry? There is no antidote for the lack of the knowledge of God’s Word other than to study it.

Increase the time your fellowship with God through His Word. And as you do that ask the Holy Spirit to give you understanding.

You need the word of God to build lives.

4. Carnality, Worldliness and the Flesh (Gal 5:16-26).

The central reason why God created man was to manage the earth.

It is important to note that when God made man in His image and likeness, the emphasis was not on the physical dimension. Image in tis context refers to form while likeness refres to character. The fact that God is a spiritual being is worthy of note. And therefore follows that man is a spiritual entity with a physical dimension.

The essence of the physical component is to be a point of interaction between man and the earth that it was meant to manage.

Unfortunately, when man sinned he lost both dimensions of his nature and was no longer able to manage the earth. It is on account of this that the earth yearns for the manifestation of the sons of God (cf. Rom 8:19). These sons are meant to restore the earth.

Sons are men who will grow to mature manhood unto the fullness of the stature of Christ (Eph 4).

5. Fear and Lack of Courage (2 Tim 6-7)

When fear stands in our way, we must fan to flame the gifts we have received. Fear is a sign that the gifts we have received is dormant.

Sometimes we need to set ourselves apart in prayer, where we ask God to stir up again in us the gifts he has given us.

6. Secret sins (1Pet 1:14-19)

Secret sins are the trap of the enrmy, tearing the fabrics of the believer. They weaken the foundation of the believer. It is a potent source of lack of courage in the life of a believer.

If we must go far as believers, then we must do away with secret sins.
