Dealing with sexual immorality
(Text: 1 Cor 6:18-19)
INTRODUCTION:
The concept of open heaven has to do with righteousness. When God extends His love to us, he expects us to reciprocate the love by living righteously.
Definition: Sexual immorality refers to interpersonal activity involving sexual organs that does not conform to God’s laws involving sexuality. Primarily used outside marital relationship.
“Porneia” translated furnication. Sexual activity outside marriage. Surrendering ones sexual purity.
Whenever the Holy Spirit is operating maximally, satan often comes in to corrupt the move of the Spirit. Hence, this topic is coming immediately after the life in the spirit seminar, when the Holy Spirit is operating maximally.
Our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. What makes our body a temple is the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. But the challenge is the struggle between the flesh and the Spirit that are constantly in battle.
THE REASON WE STRUGGLE (Gal. 5:16-21)
The main reason we struggle with sexual purity is because what our body wants is opposed to what the spirit wants. Amongst other things the body wants is fornication and its likes. Sexual immorality is capable of destroying a child of God (cf. John 10:10).

Heb 13:4; 1 Thes 4:3-5; 1Cor 7:2; Eph 5:5; Col 3:5; 1 Cor 6:9-10.
HOW CAN WE OVERCOME SEXUAL IMMORALITY?
1. Recognize that it is a sin and don’t underestimate the power of sexuality (1 John 5).
2. Believe that you can overcome it through vigorous self discipline (Mark 9:23).
3. Make a decision to repent and diligently work it out.
4. Yeild completely to the Holy Spirit (Gal. 5:16).
5. Seek counselling (Prov 11:14).
6. Cut evil company (2 Cor 6:14).
7. Set your mind on Christ (Col 3:1)
