HOW THE MIGHTY HAS FALLEN (Judges 16:1-30)

There are four remarkable verses to note in this story. They summarized the faith of every Christian or minister who is careless in this spiritual sojourn and earthly pilgrimage.
“Verse 20 – Then she called, “Samson, the Philistines are upon you!” He awoke from his sleep and thought, “I’ll go out as before and shake myself free.” But he did not know that the Lord had left him.”
He thought he could go out as before, but never knew the Spirit of God has departed him.
Hmmm! What a loss! …. Many ministers who sold their greatness on a platter of temporal pleasure, think that it’s easy to recover a lost fortune. We have many wounded Christians today, you and I inclusive, who have lost our place in Christ not because we sinned but because we are careless. Then many lost their birthright as a result of sin. When your secret is made known to an enemy, you are doomed. Be careful of enemy within, they are much more dangerous. They can be your wife, friends, siblings, parents.
Lesson 1: Use a long spoon while eating with an unknown person. Be watchful how you let out your secret.
“Verse 25 – While they were in high spirits, they shouted, “Bring out Samson to entertain us.” So they called Samson out of the prison, and he performed for them.”
It’s highly pathetic how a mighty warrior who used a jaw bone to kill thousands of Phillistines became an object of ridicule and caricature. A powerful man of God can be reduced to ashes if he is not careful. Satan does not give up, he never gave up on Christ, how much more you? But….
“verse 28 – Then Samson prayed to the Lord, “Sovereign Lord, remember me. Please, God, strengthen me just once more, and let me with one blow get revenge on the Philistines for my two eyes.”
Somebody say; “Just once more…” this word is enough to recover what we have lost for years. It doesn’t matter what the enemy has done, it doesn’t matter the number of years it takes, it doesn’t matter the number of friends or properties you have lost, go on your knees and pray to God for strength once more. I feel like talking about this physically with brethren. To demonstrate our right once again. Be humble to go back to God in reverence and acknowledge your sins, you will be revived.
Lesson 2: Humility attracts strength in God. Always be on your knees for daily revival.
“And lastly… verse 30 – Then he pushed with all his might, and down came the temple on the rulers and all the people in it. Thus he killed many more when he died than while he lived.”
Then he pushed. Have you pushed once more? What action have you taken to recover your lost fortunes? What have you done to your mockers? Have you proven the enemy wrong about your security in Christ?
You need to push, push and push again. Something remarkable is so glaring in the last verse above, the bible said that; “Samson killed more at his death than what he had killed throughout his lifetime.”
Like I said before, it doesn’t matter how we failed in the past, the present is greater, and the future is greatest.
Lesson 3: Forget the events of the past and focus on the present and the future. That’s where our victory lies.
May God strengthen you one more time to recover what you have lost in life.
Peace be with You
